Ok. This is irksome. Blogspot, for one reason or another, has all of its options in Japanese and won't go back to english. So I apologize if there are certain delays.
I'm settled into my house now. I like it here. So far there are 3 other people living here. Fabian, a German dude. Hana and Hyum, two Korean girls who don't speak English, but are fantastic at Japanese.
So what have I been doing for the last 24 hours? Well, as I mentioned, I've got a slight cold, so I'm taking it easy. Yesterday, after I finally dragged my stuff in, showered up, and got changed, I went out and explored the main street (I think!) in my area. That's the thing I've noticed about Tokyo...it's very mazelike. Lots of roads, placed where you couldn't imagine. And the system used for numbering them/naming them isn't the same as ours. I think I'm kinda getting the hang of it, however, I can see why people always draw maps/write in relation to landmarks.
Today, I slept in late. I needed it. I slacked off for a couple hours online, talking to Kat online ( :) YAY!). Finally, I used the little map Fabian drew for me and headed out to to Lawson, a 100Yen Store! So before I entered, I was thinking it would be like the $1 stores here in the US. You know, good for buying crappy household items. Well, Lawson seemed a little different. In addition to the crappy household items, they had food, including some name brand things that I've seen elsewhere for more money ::sips his vitamin water to demonstrate::. I spent about 19 yen and got a whole load of interesting things. Yes, some more pretz (I love the pretz), some food stuffs, some tissues, some vitamin water which I am horribly addicted too...some butter... Oh yes. And bread. I small half loaf sized bread thing, filled with HUGE and THICK fluffy slices. It reminds me of the thick toast I used to get at I's Cafe (I miss). Fabian says they are 24 hours too. Yatta!
Speaking of food, I'm going to break my normal policy, and go to follow Pei's advice and check out a Mcdonald's. Hey hey! Don't shoot. You know I normally don't like McDonald's...however, this is one of those wacky chances to see the differences/their interpretation of our foods. Also on my list, I want to find a German place. I made a promise those many years ago that I'd be having bratwurst in Japan. Zod dammit, I will!
