monoculture nightmare
So I went to MacDonald's tonight. I had their Double Cheeseburger, known to them as a Double Cheese. And yes, I had it with a "Set," or what we'd call fries and a soft drink. Let's compare burgers shall we? Last night, I went to Mon for a burger. The meat tasted different. The cheese was sorta alien. And they used a bread like substance for a bun, rather than a bun like substance. So what about Nihon no MacDonald's v. US MacDonald's? You guessed it. Exactly the same. No difference. At all. Same fake cheese. Same fake meat. Same as I had in Germany. It both raises and answers a lot of questions at the same time.

Awwww...I'm sorry to hear that it was the same! That is a shame :( I know when McDonald's first opened abroad, it did taste a bit different (at least in Taiwan), but I guess they've had time to "perfect" it.
Though, in China, they offer SHRIMP nuggets (in addition to chicken nuggets) and are QUITE popular.
But thanks for trying it out - at least now you know :)

Ok this is strange.
You are in Japan and you had McDonalds.
I am in New Jersey and had a bento box with teriyaki chicken, salad, dumplings, and miso soup. Plus tempura ice cream for dessert and a takeout sweet potato roll for dinner later tonight.
Somewhere the time-space continuum is messed up. :)
Mmm...bento...
haha. I think they do have...something...with shrimp in it. The experiment was for the burger though.
